The Only Game in Town: This romance of a chorus girl and a gambler takes place in Las Vegas but was shot in Paris, and it definitely hurts the film. There is little action and the inside scenes slow pace of this delightful adaptation of Frank D. Gilroy’s play. Beatty is phenomenal. Cast includes Elizabeth Taylor, Warren Beatty, Charles Braswell, Hank Henry, and Olga Valery. (113 minutes, 1970)

The Sentinel: A smooth however mindless shocker in reference to a N. Y.C. fashion model, who leases a house in Brooklyn, finds it’s full of demons and she’s to be the next protector, protecting the gateway to Hell. Cast includes Cristina Raines, Ava Gardner, Chris Sarandon, Burgess Meredith, Sylvia Miles, Jose Ferrer, Arthur Kennedy, John Carradine, Christopher Walken, Eli Wallach, Jerry Orbach, Jeff Goldblum, Beverly D’ Angelo, Martin Balsam, William Hickey, and Tom Berenger. Search and Destroy: A severely broke computer hack on the outer limits of show biz plans to acquire funding for his fantasy film venture, an adaptation of the pop ranting of a male movement expert. Cast includes Griffin Dunne, Illeana Douglas, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, John Turturro, Rosanna Arquette, Ethan Hawke, and Martin Scorsese. (90 minutes, 1995)

The Red Violin: This multi-episode film follows the destiny of a hexed violin from 17th-century Italy to 18th century Vienna, 19th century England, 20th-century China and present day Montreal. The tales are mainly downbeat and or aggravating, and the finish up part with appraiser Jackson is difficult to swallow. Colorful locales and enthralling premises sustain limited interest all the way through. Cast includes Carlo Cecchi, Irene Grazioli, Jean-Luc Bideau, Jason Flemyng, Greta Scacchi, Sylvia Chang, Samuel L. Jackson, Colm Feore, Monique Mercure, Don McKellar, and Sandra Oh. Paddy: Irish lover Cavern tries to shuffle differed sensual confronts with uninspired home life in typical comedy-drama. Cast includes Milo O’Shea, Des Cavern, Deborah Molloy, Judy Cornwell, and Donald LeBlanc (97 minutes, 1970)

Sudden Impact: The fourth in the Dirty Harry series depends on a reliable recipe, as maverick cop gives us vicarious delight of doing in civilization’s scum, although this entry is longer, and stupider, than need be. Locke plays a Lady taking out murderous reprisal on gentlemen (and one lesbian) who raped her and her sis years ago. Cast includes Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke, Pat Hingle, Bradford Dillman, Paul Drake, Jack Thibeau, and Albert Popwell. (117 minutes, 1983)

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes: The first of Disney’s computer comedies with youthful Russell as the college whiz inserted with a pc-mind, which winds up posing a threat to local gangster Romero. Cast includes Kurt Russell, Cesar Romero, Joe Flynn, William Schallert, Alan Hewitt, and Richard Bakalyan. (91 minutes, 1970)

Kim: An exciting action film based on the Kipling classic set in 1880s India, with British cadets battling disobedient locals. Cast includes Errol Flynn, Dean Stockwell, Paul Lukas, Thomas Gomez, and Cecil Kellaway. 113 minutes, 1950)

Daniel: A phenomenal adaptation of E. L. Doctorow’s The Novel of Daniel, about Julius and Ethel Rosenberg who encounter discrimination due to their heritage in order learn to handle their own lives in the difficult 1960s. Not without its imperfections, however overall a seductive and incredibly well-made film. Cast includes Timothy Hullon, Mandy Patinkin, Lindsay Crouse, Edward Asner, Ellen Barkin, Julie Bovasso, Tovah Feldshuh, Joseph Leon, Amanda Plummer, and John Rubinstein. (130 minutes, 1983)
