Rottweilers are victims of their own success. Rottweilers are such impressive dogs that many people want one just to be fashionable, or because they think a Rottweiler would be cheaper than buying a home security system. Rottweilers are big, powerful dogs that often do not know their own strength. They are very good with children, but often not so good with adults. They need regular exercise in order to burn up their natural exuberance.

When looking for Rottweiler puppies, visit a Rottweiler breeder, not a pet store. If you pick out your puppy from a breeder, the Rottweiler puppies\’ parents will probably be on site, and you can see the sire and dam for yourself. Adult dogs should have a confident temperament and should be well socialized.

Rottweilers are German by origin and have served their masters well from antiquity and were at first, best used to drive cattle as well as to keep guard for their masters. They are affectionately also called Rotty and Rott and are well loved by their owners and by anyone else that comes in contact with them. They are large and very strong dogs and among their Rottweiler problem behavior is the tendency for them to bully others and to be very domineering.

Technically, a Rottweiler can breed with any other breed of dog, since they both are members of the same species. Very tiny dogs will not be able to manage the physical complications surrounding a successful mating. A large stud dog should never be bred to a very small bitch, as the puppies will grow far too big for her to naturally give birth. When given a choice, Rottweilers do seem to prefer mating with dogs about their own size.

In the 1996 movie The Fan, starring Robert De Niro, a Rottweiler was finally portrayed accurately. This fictional Rottweiler loved to run on the beach, play with kids and was a big softie. Although the movie wasn\’t about the Rottweiler, it is a good indication of the true nature of Rottweilers. Because of their strength, they are not recommended for the first time dog owner or for those of a timid disposition.
