Everyone is familiar with the Direct Sales Business Model. Who didnt know the Avon Lady down the street, or try on her first makeup at a Mary Kay Party? Pampered Chef and Tastefully Simple Catalogues abound at my office and, Im sure, in many others.

As the one flipping through the catalogues while I wait for my afternoon popcorn to pop, I am always inclined to wonder, “How successful is this Representative? Is she rolling in dough? Is she one party away from the free car or the incentive vacation? Is she likely to make a career out of network marketing? Or is she a newbie, diligently pestering family, friends and coworkers to host parties until she becomes burned out and quits?”

In the past, the only type of person who could succeed at mlm was pushy, outspoken and driven, almost to the point of running over people. Often, over the years, I’ve considered joining an mlm company. Spelled out in a presentation, it seems like such an easy way to earn money. But there was always that hesistation that eventually led to my declining the opportunity, and it was based solely on negative feelings I’ve had against network marketers in the past.

Everyone likes the idea of earning money from home, and everyone likes to think about being the boss of their own business, who can decide on their own schedule and earnings. These things are possible through network marketing, but many don’t even know it. What a shame that the good features associated with mlm companies are hidden by stigmas from the past!

Truthfully, MLM can be a great source of reliable income, but only if it is gone about in the proper fashion. Today’s network marketers are leveraging the Internet to attract lists of prospects, build teams and earn amounts of money never dreamed about in the old model of mlm. And by doing so, they are changing the marred image of the industry.

There is a whole big world out there that can be reached using the Internet. Network marketers can now attract prospects to them by offering informative articles and web content, helpful tips and web-inars before ever trying to sell anything to anyone. The big world is not providing these network marketers with big residual income.

That makes the idea of prospecting in your cul-de-sac neighborhood seem asinine, doesn’t it? That’s because your neighborhood, your local grocery store, your office, or even your whole town, are ultimately limited markets. You may make income, but it won’t be residual income. Your home business will eventually reach a plateau.

With Internet network marketing, your field is global, your stream of prospects (and thus, your income) endless. Better yet, with the new mode of network marketing, you are not spending your valuable time and energy chasing down prospects. The Internet is searcher-oriented. That’ why every Internet experience you’ve ever had began with a search engine box. Those who find your home-based business on the web will do so because they have searched for it.

That means your work is almost done by the time the interaction even begins! You have become a sought-after commodity. The choice is now truly yours who you want to work with and how much money you want to make. Once established, this state of being sought-after multiplies itself exponentially. Everyone wants to be friends with the popular kid! Everyone wants to buy name brand! It’s written into the Law of Attraction.

Additionally, modern network marketers are able to make money while they establish their businesses by selling advertising space on their website or by linking with a separate company to promote their products for commission. You need not pay for advertising in the beginning, because there are numerous avenues for free advertising, such as YouTube and Ezine Articles. The business pays for itself, and the consultants are not desperate or discouraged.

That’s a long way from the indignity associated with Direct Sales in our mothers’ day. Network marketers today have established themselves as valuable commodities, experts in their respective fields, and they have utilitized the Internet to build profitable businesses and substantial income! Take off the preconceived notions and take a second look at multilevel marketing.
