Things To Think About Before Putting Fish In A Saltwater Tank

The location where you actually place your saltwater tank is very crucial. It should be kept out of direct sunlight; if not then algae can quickly build up in the aquarium. Plus you should never place it close to a direct heat source (radiators or fire) and keep it away from areas where drafts occur. So avoid placing it close to doors or windows.

Also if you are buying a saltwater tank made from glass, ensure that the right sort of protective layer is provided with the stand on which it sits. This should not only cushion the base of the aquarium, but also make sure that the tank remains level, because if it isn’t the chances of damage occurring to the saltwater tank are greatly increased.

After you have gotten the saltwater tank set up in your chosen location, now fill it with water and allow it to stand for a couple of days to make sure that it is water tight. After these two days, remove all the water and rinse the tank and all the other equipment, especially the filters and grave,l out with freshwater before putting into the tank. If you don’t then you may well allow contaminants to get into your saltwater tank, which can prove to be extremely harmful to the fish, marine life and plants in it.
