My favorite personal development tool is my Ipod. Anyone who is serious about changing their life needs to invest in an mp3 player of some sort. I recommend the Ipod. Why do you need an mp3 player? It can hold thousands of songs that can be organized and best of all, it’s portable. There are other mp3 players out there, but I find Ipod easy to use and setup. I setup play lists for each item I wish to accomplish, for example, a weight loss list, overcoming procrastination, being present, etc. This way I can concentrate on one item at a time. I listen to these mp3s whenever I get the chance. Right before bed I use listen to a relaxing type like hypnosis, or something else quiet and that doesn’t require a lot of thought or concentration. This helps me relax and fall asleep easily. I usually setup a play list that last only 2-3 mp3s. That way it will just turn itself off when it’s done and I don’t waste the batteries. I decided to go with the video model. I wasn’t sure about spending the extra money at first, but time after time, it has proven itself valuable. I’ve downloaded Oprah’s web casts on the book “A New Earth” which was written by Eckhart Tolle. I try to watch these when I am a passenger in a car on a long trip, or in a waiting room somewhere. Actually it also came in handy when I had my last baby. I put some movies on it for my husband, and while I was patiently waiting to have the baby, my husband could watch movies. Also, after the little girl came into this world, it was nice to keep us occupied while waiting to be discharged. Another time it came in handy was when I had car trouble and had to wait to be rescued. That turned into another good time to watch Oprah and Eckhart on the web classes. Going back and forth to work was another great time to listen to mp3s and made the drive much faster than it was. Before my personal development era, my mind was consumed with work. What happened that day, what I would be doing tomorrow, all the drama that occurred, etc? Even when I went to sleep at night, all I could think about was work. And that’s the last thing I wanted to think about. Before my personal development days, it would take me at least an hour, if not two to get to sleep at night. My mind was always racing; usually about work. When I did fall asleep, I would dream about work. First thing in the morning, when I wake upI thought about work. I kept thinking “STOP, STOP, I have more important things to think about.” Now, it only takes me about 10 minutes to fall asleep. That’s hit the pillow, relax, and sleep. I love it. I don’t dream about work anymore and I have a much better sleep. Listening to mp3s before bed has really changed my life.
